Saudi Arabia and Qatar are building a new high-speed electric train that will connect their two capital cities, Riyadh and Doha.

The project was recently approved and is expected to start running in June 2026.

The Big Details:

  • Super Fast: The train will travel at over 186 mph (300 km/h).
  • Saves Time: It will take only 2 hours to travel between Riyadh and Doha. Right now, driving takes much longer, and even a flight takes about 90 minutes.
  • Long Route: The track will be about 488 miles (785 kilometers) long.
  • Direct Connections: The train will stop at major airports in both countries, making it very easy for international travelers to get around.

Why is this happening?

  1. Easier Tourism: It will be much simpler for people to visit both countries in one trip. You could see the luxury sites in Qatar and the historic spots in Saudi Arabia all in the same weekend.
  2. Better for the Planet: Because the train is electric, it is much “greener” than driving or flying. It will help reduce air pollution in the region.
  3. Boost for Business: The train will make it easier for companies to trade and for people to travel for work, which will help both countries grow their economies.
  4. New Jobs: Building and running the railway is expected to create about 30,000 new jobs.

Summary: By 2026, traveling between Saudi Arabia and Qatar will be faster, cheaper, and better for the environment. This “bullet train” is a major step in making travel across the Middle East easier for everyone.
