Google has expanded its AI-powered travel tools to help users find cheaper flights and plan trips more easily. Here is a shorter, simplified version of the update:

1. AI “Flight Deals” Goes Global

Previously only available in the U.S., Canada, and India, Google’s Flight Deals tool is now rolling out to over 200 countries and supports 60+ languages.

  • What it does: Instead of using complex filters, you can type natural requests like “a week-long trip to a warm beach this winter” or “a food-focused city trip with no stops.”
  • How it works: The AI scans current airline data to find the best discounts, showing the biggest savings first.

2. New “Canvas” Tool for Itineraries

Google is adding a feature called Canvas (currently in “AI Mode” for U.S. desktop users) to help organize entire trips.

  • What it does: When you ask for trip ideas, you can select “Create with Canvas.”
  • The Result: It creates a side-by-side plan that includes real-time flight and hotel data, photos, reviews, and maps. You can ask follow-up questions to refine the plan, like “Find me a hotel closer to the hiking trails.”

3. AI Booking Assistance

Google is expanding its “agentic” AI capabilities, meaning the AI can now perform tasks for you.

  • Now: All U.S. users can use AI Mode to book restaurant reservations, buy event tickets, or schedule wellness appointments.
  • Coming Soon: Google plans to allow users to complete flight and hotel bookings directly within the AI interface without leaving the search page.

Summary for Travelers

  • Best for: Flexible travelers who want to find the best price without knowing exactly where or when they want to go.
  • The Goal: To reduce the “busywork” of travel planning so you can spend more time enjoying your trip.
